PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Freelance artist/consultant

Projects include: Exhibition development for the Museum of Jewish Heritage, NYC, with Art(n)Lab, Chicago. Primary 2D artist in team of 2D/3D artists and technicians. Separated historic photographs for projection in simulated 3D space, generated textures for 3D models, collaborated on composition. Design and development of interactive pieces for CD rom, working with ZAP media, Providence. Cover Design and Layout, for Bridges Magazine Free-lance Workshops in New Media for the Interactive Factory, (Boston), nSight (Cambridge) and New England Foundation for the Arts.

University level Teaching

Rhode Island School of Design (part-time 1997-present), University of Vermont (1990-1997), Connecticut College (two-thirds position 1981-1990), Frostburg State (1978-1981). Courses taught and developed include: Computer Art, Computer Animation, Drawing, Color Theory, Painting, 2D Design, 3D Design, Web Animation, Faculty Workshps. Developed first computer courses at Connecticut College and University of Vermont.

Museum Education

ArtKit Designer/ Coordinator (1973 - 1975),Regional Center for Educational Training. Developed educational materials in Art and Anthropology for school outreach program of Dartmouth College based Montshire Museum; coordinated teacher training for rural schools without art programs. Previous experience at Pacific Science Center, Boston Children's Museum.

SELECTED RECENT PROJECTS:
Current: Development of web-based artwork and computer animation, partially funded by the Connecticut Commission on the Arts. Imagery is derived from photographs of historical places, reflecting the hierarchy of imagined and real moments of memory. Focus is on Diaspora culture and other cultural memories.
Recent: Painting/Collage prints incorporating several historical elements. Visiting artist at Research Division of Eastman Kodak Company to output imagery (March 2000). Creative work done as Bronfman Visiting artist at Williams College (January 2000). Exhibited at PABA Gallery March 2000. (New Haven, CT), GAMUT (Colville Place Gallery, London UK, SIGGRAPH Art Show (Los Angeles CA and selected for Traveling Show) Digital Traces (55 Mercer Street, New York, NY), Spiri(tu)ELLES II (Martiques, France) The Digital Muses (Wellesly College, Wellesly MA). Included in 1998 Journées des Images Professionelles (Marseilles, France), featured in television interview on France 3.

In collection of DeCordoba Museum and included on SIGGRAPH Video Review.

Partially funded by the New England Foundation for the Arts and the University of Vermont Research Council. 1992: Produced Series of still imagery based on experimentation with photocopy art combined with painting and digital imagery, partially supported by an artist in residence grant from Centre Copie-Art (Montréal, Quebec). Resulting work published and exhibited by Centre Copie-Art. Exhibited also as at Imagination 94 (The Netherlands), the Northwest Society for Photographic Education (Pacific Lutheran U,Tacoma WA), SIGGRAPH Art Show (Los Angeles CA) Virtual Galerij EKKO (Springtij Festival, The Netherlands).
1991: Invited Artist for Adobe Photoshop workshop upon the release of Adobe Photoshop version 1. Workshop co-sponsored by Studio Graphique of Apple France (Paris) and Actes Sud (Arles). Resulting images exhibited a Mac Expo, Paris. Related work exhibited at Third International Symposium on Electronic Art, (Sydney, Australia), Shirley Fiterman Gallery (New York, NY) Imagina (Monte Carlo, Monaco), Memorial Art Gallery (Rochester, NY). In collection of Memorial Art Gallery.
1988: Avignon After Image: Morrill Hall Mural. Large Scale mural produced in porcelain baked enamel for Southern Connecticut State University commissioned by the Art in Public Spaces program, Connecticut Commission on the Arts. Possibly first large mural entirely designed by computer. Documented in research by Martin Rieser (Bristol, UK).
