Barbara Murray is founding editor (1994-2000) of Gallery, the art magazine from Gallery Delta, Harare, Zimbabwe. Born in Zimbabwe, she holds a BA degree in Arts & Humanities and a Post-graduate Library Diploma with an art specialism. Having been Exhibitions Officer for the National Gallery of Zimbabwe and assistant with Tengenenge Gallery (Harare), as well as exhibiting textiles, painting and ceramics herself, she is founding Secretary of the Zimbabwe branch of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) and has written widely on the visual arts of Zimbabwe for catalogues, journals and newspapers both at home and abroad as well as representing Zimbabwe at AICA conferences in London and Belfast.

Gallery magazine is the only journal on contemporary visual arts in Zimbabwe and one of the few art magazines written and produced in Africa. Published quarterly with full colour reproductions, it provides in-depth coverage of developments in contemporary art in Zimbabwe as well as looking at work and events from around the African continent.
