The extraterrestrial life debate has greatly influenced science, popularculture and both secular and theological worldviews. Today it comprises anon-anthropocentric worldview of its own, here termed the "biophysicalcosmology". This cosmology is still unverified, but if extraterrestrialintelligence is discovered, the cultural impact of the debate thus far willhave been but a minor prelude.
